BIOGRAPHY OF
PEG CAWTHORN
Peg was born 1944 in Louisville, Kentucky, and was adopted in 1946 to a family from Indianapolis, Indiana where she grew up.
Peg’s early years were spent playing the piano and sewing with her mother. They would make quilts together till her mother’s death in 2002. She then went in search of another hobby. It was while visiting the Artistry In Wood Show in Dayton, Ohio in 2003 that she became interested in Wood burning, as demonstrated and taught to her by Linda Sales.
Her wood burnings are generally created on Basswood, but she has also burned on whatever other wood she can get her hands on. Each wood burns with its own beauty and the grain on each type is different. She also burns on burlap and leather.
Peg and her husband, Jim, a wood carver, live in Avon, Indiana and display and sell their creations at craft fairs. Both are members of Montgomery Wood Carvers and also to the International Wood Collectors Society.
